So it's agreed, we will atone together.

Opening her vivid green eyes, the smell of water and flowers filling her nose and lungs. Slowly she pushed herself into sitting up and sighed, shaking her head. How could things have gone so badly? She couldn't even remember what happened after abandoning the scene at the crater. As though her body had been on autopilot, she tried to recall and could only get a blurred, water picture of herself nodding as she was dropped off, and spending...however long it had been, seemingly lying there half asleep. She hadn't even contacted her friends.

But there was something there. Nagging at the back of her mind. And then she remembered, she'd become very very sick after the freezing cold of the northern crater. Something happened to her while she was lying here, suffering from a horrible fever. That was all she could recall though, and she seemed to have regained her health now. So the auburn haired woman got to her feet and brushed some of the pollen off of her green dress. She picked up her meager possessions and gingerly she made her way out of the church and onto the streets as the early light cast everything in a gentle golden glow.

She loved the light and air of the mornings. It made everything feel fresh and new. And it held in it the promise of a new day.

A new day where Aerith realized she was suddenly very very hungry. Another problem with that missing chunk of time; She had no way of knowing when the last time she had a meal was. So the course was set. It would be down to the nearest diner for breakfast and a little bit of reconnisance. After all, someone there had to know what was going on in the world.

Then maybe later...she'd make a phone call...

Balthier was lucky he had an airship, because otherwise how would he get anywhere so quickly as he did? With the money he had stashed in various locations, the sky pirate had every intention of living it up, and having a good time of things. Whether he was fighting to help someone, or stealing from people because really, why not, Balthier's ultimate goal seemed to be simply to have a good time and have as much fun as he could on the way there.

Looking over from where he was leaning against one of the walls of the little cafe he'd stopped at, Balthier sipped at a cup of coffee, smirking at the taste of the reused grounds, idly leaning over to spit a few errant gritty pieces into a barren flowerbed. "Hell of a town, Edge.." he stretched slightly, "Or is it still Midgar? I always get that confused.."

Balthier smirked slightly, as he emptied the remnants of the coffee into the empty flowerbed, making a bit of a face at the steaming result. The man couldn't tell if it was steaming because of the heat, or because something in the coffee was slowly consuming the organic components of the dirt, like some kind of mild acid. It could have been acid, this was Midgar, and not the upper class space above the plate, either. "Hmm? No, I wasn't talking to you exactly so much as talking out loud.. but thank you for the answer, Miss." Balthier couldn't help but find himself flirting with women, and his body language reflected that as he looked Aerith over, from her pretty green eyes to her smooth, pale skin. He could tell from her hands that she wasn't simply some rich man's daughter slumming it, she had somehow managed a pink and red outfit and well kept nails here in the slums, sure, but his keen eyes could tell she worked for her living, and did her best to remain feminine about it.

It was a good look on her, and the Sky Pirate tilted his head as he noticed her eyes shining with unshed tears, though she got a hold of herself. Smiling, he stepped in close, leaning in a bit and tipping the woman's chin up with a finger, "Ah, I did not mean to bring you any sadness with my question.. how thoughtless of me. My name is Balthier, a Sky Pirate of some renown.." he was proud of his profession, and exceedingly proud of the Strahl, "Though I must say, it is a surprise to find such a beautiful flower flourishing here, under the plate."

I suck at this lately :\

"Huh, of course you're correct, I'm surprised that such rare beauty could blossom from such surroundings.. but it is always the way of it, isn't it? You find the brightest diamonds in the meanest rough, if you look hard enough, or are a lucky enough man to stumble over them." Balthier didn't hesitate at all when it came to flirting, especially with pretty women.. but the man had been known to flirt with all sorts of women, from Viera like Fran, to the hugely built and muscular Ronso women.. If it was female, and capable of wearing a skirt, Balthier was capable of chasing it. The rumour had it that, once upon a time, the man had entertained a Moogle lady.. if that said anything about his unburdened appetites.

"A Sky Pirate, dear lady, roams the open skies wherever the wind takes him. From Mount Gagazet all the way to Alexandria aboard his personalized, custom airship. My own comes all the way from the Archadian Empire, my very first heist, truth be told." he spoke about his airship with a twinkle in his eye, the same way he might have spoken of a particularly skilled lover, "Retrieving all of the most valuable treasures and trinkets the world over, adventuring into the most highly prized and protected locales, selling goods far and wide.." theft, burglary, smuggling. All parts of his trade.
