 Who: Serge, Kid, Glenn
What and Where: Serge and Glenn get a rude welcome outside the city of Edge
Rating: T
When: A week before the Halloween event
(OOC: Finally done. I promise to avoid delays and plan ahead in the future.)

Beaches, truly a wonderful sight to behold during the summer, or whenever the sun decided to rise. Serge could remember all the times he had spent in places such as these, be it alone to reflect on life, or hanging out with good friends, though out of all of them, he had only spent time with Leena and Kid. Normally he would spend hours admiring the view, simply staring out to sea, not a care in the world.

However, now was not a time for cheer.

As he got up after tumbling through the wormhole from his own world, shaking his head to rid the sand that found its way through his ears and hair, he looked around, immediately knowing that he was certainly not on Opassa Beach. “Where are am I?”

“Clearly not home, that’s for sure.”

Serge turned his head at the sound of his friend, Glenn. “I see your alright.”

Glenn closed his eyes, moving his neck to get rid of the crinks. “Not quite. I never knew the jumping method of wormholes was that painful.”

“It usually never is, until now.” he explained, still scanning the area in shock. “Even Lizard Rock is gone…” He smirked. “Hey! Maybe we won’t have to worry about getting killed by monsters!”

Glenn sighed; so much for training and getting a good work out. “Whatever. Just make sure we can return whenever we wish. I don’t like the idea of spending the rest of my life away from the others in an unknown world.”

Serge nodded, not particularly liking the idea. He also needed to make sure he could contact his companions on the other side, in the event that he and Glenn needed help finding Kid, and friends such as Grobyc and Orlha would really come in handy. He didn’t want to worry his mother either, especially after his last adventure dealing with Lynx. Knowing her, she was probably having a heart attack by now.

He took out the Astral Amulet, the very one Kid had given to him for good luck. With it, so long as he was near the wormhole, he was able to travel freely between the two worlds. But that was over a year ago, when the worlds were separate, so he had no idea what to really expect. Nevertheless, he held it out, closing his eyes, waiting for him to be swallowed by the mystical energy.

Several seconds flew by, with Glenn getting more annoyed and impatient by the second. Just when he couldn’t take the wait, he snapped Serge out of it. “Don’t you feel anything at all?” When Serge shook his head, he turned pale at the thoughts going on through his head. Now he regretted helping Serge find Kid. “Please tell me this isn’t the part where you say we can’t return and we are trapped in this dimension!”

“No…umm…” Serge scratched the back of his head. “Well, you and I can’t return and we are trapped in this WORLD!” He grinned. “See, we aren’t trapped in a dimension.”

Glenn gave him a blank stare, blinking several times, amazed at his leader’s stupidity and making light of this situation. “I am going to start beating you now. I don’t know when I’ll stop.”

“Easy Glenn!” Serge’s smile faded, replaced by a more serious look. “We aren’t completely screwed, so all we gotta do is think rationally.”

Glenn growled, hating Serge for being right. “Very well. At least this can’t get any—“ Glenn stopped, recalling the last time he said it during their trip to Mt. Pyre…and the giant fire-breathing salamander. Oh he couldn’t forget about that! “On second thought, how about we just leave and search for Kid. With any luck, she and what’s her face—“

“Schala,” corrected Serge.

Glenn waved him off. “Yeah, Schala whatever, and we can leave this world. If we waste our time here, who knows what’s going to happen in our world. We already have enough troubles with Porre.”

Serge silently agreed, and the two set out, leaving the beach behind them. They didn’t know where exactly they were heading, blind to the world before them, so they merely went north, coming across a desolate wasteland. Despair plagued the two for quite some time. At least that was until they spotted a city of in the distant.

Serge felt uneasy about however, as the large structures reminded him of his trip to the Dead Sea and Chronopolis. He could only hope that this time there were no ghosts or mechanized foes to stand in his way; the Combots in Chronopolis were bad enough. Looking to his side, Glenn remained calm, apparently recovering from his panic attack on the beach.

“Sorry,” he said. “I didn’t think this would happen.”

The Dragoon shrugged. “Forget about it. I was acting crazy myself back there. Besides, we both know how much you wish to see you know who!” He lightly punched him in the arm, smirking. “Knowing you, I’d be dragged all over every world known to the gods themselves until we managed to find her.”

Serge rubbed his arm, smirking as well. “Heh, you know you don’t have to follow me and play chaperone all the time!”

Glenn laughed. “And miss out on all adventures? Please! Whenever I’m with you and Kid, that’s usually the most fun I can get!”

Serge joined in the laughter as well. The joy was about to be cut shortly though.

Both warriors stopped, noticing the change in the air. Small mists of darkness spread all around them, blocking any chance they had to escape. From the small clouds of darkness, several beings emerged, their bodies resembling wolves, though rather than a mane, a large, long tentactle hung from its head, whipping itself onto the ground several times. Snarling like vicious dogs, they slowly closed in on their prey, the tentacles flowing behind them.

Serge summoned his two-sided blade weapon, the Mastermune into his hands. Glenn followed his actions, drawing his signature twin swords, the Einlanzers, from their sheathes, preparing to strike. They set their backs against one another, not allowing an opening to their enemies.

“How about a summoning, Serge?” asked Glenn. “Saints would really come in handy right about now.”

Serge’s face fell at that, and he grew nervous once more. “Um…about that….”

Glenn glared at his leader. “You forgot it in the other world, didn’t you?” When Serge nodded, he sighed. “Great! And I forgot Genie as well! What now?”

As the Hell Hounds came closer, all Serge could do was smile and say, “Well, patience brings luck!”

If only Serge wasn’t his ally, Glenn would have merely tossed him to the dogs, literally!
