Who: Sephiroth, Vincent
Where: Sephiroth's base deep inside the Northern Crater
When: Shortly after "Let There Be Love"
Rating: Mature
Shortly after stepping foot outside the dance hall in Balamb, Sephiroth took wing and jettisoned himself into the sky. The cold air so high in the sky was refreshing. It reminded him just how dangerous things had become for him just from talking to Vincent Valentine. He had allowed himself to be opened up, for the parts of him he hadn't seen in years to be laid out in front of him to be inspected and judged.
But Vincent wasn't going to betray such weaknesses to anyone. He had said so himself.
Sephiroth had no reason to believe him, but as he flew north, to the crater where he had made a place for himself, he found he didn't need a reason. There had been genuine guilt there when he looked into those bloody red eyes. Vincent actually felt guilty for the things Hojo and those of his similar demented mind had inflicted on Sephiroth in the past.
He felt disgusted and weak. He was the closest thing to the angel of death this world had, and yet he let someone who before had been eager to kill him look deep inside to see what lay beneath the monster. No one deserved to see that. He didn't even let himself see what he was underneath the many layers. No, he was just supposed to be a monster. An unfeeling, calculating, murderous creature.
As he touched down inside the crater, he folded his arms to think. A smirk came to his lips as he stared through the rocks under his feet. 'Why am I worrying? My entire purpose now is to spread chaos and despair. And I'm doing just that. There's nothing wrong with taking a little break from that.' he thought. 'The very essence of chaos is to be unpredictable. This is as unpredictable as possible...'
Convinced he hadn't changed at all, Sephiroth merely stood there and awaited the arrival of his "date."
