Who: Tantalus, Open
When: Evening
Where: Balamb Garden
What: Putting on a play
Warnings: TBA

The trip to Balamb Garden had gone smoothly. The Prima Vista was safely docked and the stage prepared ready for the performance. The band had been rehearsing and were ready for their show.

Blank had decided on performing 'I Want To Be Your Canary', a classic favourite. Marcus would be playing the lead, and Ruby as his love interest. Blank and Cinna would be playing their usual roles.

Everything was ready, now all they had to do was wait for the crowds to spill in.

While home to a large number of cadets and faculty, Balamb Garden was still a military setting and entertainment like the show planned for tonight didn't come along often. The Prima Vista had been set upon by students immediately after its arrival; they appeared in pairs, in small groups, or alone, all wanting to reserve their spots and watch the actors at work. Being told to come back later hadn't deterred many of them. They'd simply return within twenty minutes as their curiosity became too much to bear--and lather, rinse, repeat.

Now, as the doors finally opened, throngs of cadets swarmed in to fill every available space. Their chatter was a constant, low drone as they waited for the play to begin.

"Hurry up or all the good seats will be taken!"

"Do you think they'll mind me filming the whole thing? I hope they don't take my camera."

"Is it true that Marcus and Cornelia die at the end?"

"Thanks for the spoiler, jerk!"

All but lost in the commotion, a certain silver-haired man slipped past the excited cadets. His manner of dress was outrageous but went almost entirely unremarked upon. Perhaps everyone assumed that he was part of the show, or perhaps they were simply too focused on the evening's festivities to really notice him. Either way, he reached the stage unmolested, unquestioned, and entirely uninvited. He ascended it with an air of purpose and slipped behind the curtain, glancing around.

Showing up at the Prima Vista on opening night was a ballsy thing to do even for Kuja. Showing up while it was docked at a military academy was even ballsier. Showing up while it was docked at a military academy and placing himself backstage where someone was bound to recognize him was perhaps not ballsy so much as utterly insane, but he hardly seemed bothered by this.

Quistis, very unusually, was quite excited by all the hubub. This kind of thing didn't happen in Balamb very often, so cadets and villagers alike were finding it all impossible to resist.

Passing through the crowds, Quistis nodded civilly from one person to the next, finding it impossible to reach a seat because she was constantly stopped by students wanting to discuss exams, results, or just to compliment her dress.

Eventually, she got to a good seat. Hands folded in her lap, keen eyes scanned the stage, appearing serene despite her excitement.

Sitting around too much never suited Serge. If there was something important he had to do, which was 98% of the time lately, he'd rather be up and taking care of it before he forgot about it. Naturally he could never forget about that Lavoid he encountered, along with Xion. He had hoped victory in the hunt festival might have cheered him up, but it only showed him how careless he could be in a fight. He needed more restraint, and no doubt Sephiroth and Vanitas knew that.

And such was why he was here, in the third row, reclining back in a chair with the Mastermune in the seat next to him with a bored look on his face. Considering where the group had attacked last, Serge didn't want to take any chances and laid in wait. Should Sephiroth and his gang foolishly attacked, he would be right there in the middle to strike. For once he had hoped the bad guys to appear...

Because simply waiting here was killing a part of him. Sighing, he closed his eyes, trying to relax his muscles. There was darkness here, that was no lie, but it was scattered, and for all he knew, he would cause the scene and be labeled the villain, something he couldn't afford, especially with rumors abound that someone like him was being spotted around the world...flirting and mating with women. He paled at the thought. Were Kid ever to find out such a false rumor, she'd either turn Serge into a woman, or carve several bloody holes into those starting these silly rumors. Either way, Serge liked neither option.

Taking a deep breath, he toyed around with the cellphone in his hands, staring at the picture of Vanitas. The man had been a powerful foe indeed, and while Serge was sure victory might have been his had the man not fled and Kid wasn't injured, he never wanted to fight such beings again. He frowned at the thought of Xion. If he had to fight her....

He sighed again, slamming his head back into his chair. "Why do bad guys always have to be complicated!?"
