She noticed him stumble slightly and frowned. "Get up here. That's an order, soldier." She smiled just slightly, her eyes warming enough to show she'd accepted a little of his apology. Lightning reached out and gripped the crest of his Chocobo gently, enough to make the bird stop walking. At that, she refused to let go, looking down to Zack expectantly. She wasn't going to let him just walk on a damaged ankle and she could hardly do anything about it while he was on the ground and she was high up on a Chocobo.
Zack looked up at her and chuckled softly, "If I'm up that high, I won't be able to see.." he gestured out around the dark cave they were entering, and smiled slightly, "Can you maintain a Fire spell, for light?" he listened to her, though, and mounted with a little difficulty. There was no point in continuing on like that if he didn't have to. His eyes were particularly bright in the dark, and shed light on his upper cheeks, giving his face an eerie look.
Lightning curled her hand in the reins around Zack's Chocobo then gripped her own. Raising her left hand, a small fire flickered there, lighting the way. "I should be able to maintain it for... ten to fifteen minutes at a time. I will have to recast, then." As she spoke, Lightning looked over her shoulder to his face, slightly startled by the glow from his blue eyes. With a moment to examine them, she gave a half-smile in the darkness and kissed him gently. "Do not expect me to sit by when your life is in danger. I... care too much." At that, Lightning faced away, continuing into the depths cave.
Zack blushed softly at the sentiment, touched, and returned her kiss. "Alright.." when she lit her spell, though, the cave walls caught the light and refracted it, lighting a much larger area than the small flame would have allowed elsewhere, showing that the stone here was a brilliant, deep blue, with silver flecks inside. Zack was looking for a larger lump of the metal, and was sure they could find one deeper inside, "That's why I was so worried, there.. I didn't want you gettin' hurt. That thing's killed more people than we had today.. some just as skilled."
"I understand that. I still refuse to be your damsel in distress; stood watching whilst you kill yourself." Lightning's green eyes shone under the fire light and she nudged her bird onwards, watching each inch of the cave around them. The blue, silver flecked walls were rather intriguing but she simply continued them on, not wanting to stop and wait at any point, to be honest, just in case another fiend decided to make them a meal.
It seemed that being covered in the blood of a giant predator, while disgusting, had it's benefits, as none of the normal monsters were bothering them just then. Zack smiled at her when she told him how it was, and chuckled, "Instead, you're going to rush headlong into a situation you don't know everything about, and risk getting hurt? D'you know how much magic I pumped into that thing? It was crazy!" he snickered softly, and winked one glowing eye, speaking more softly as he sidled his bird next to Nora, kissing her cheek, "Thank you, though.."
Lightning batted her hand at him, inadvertently tugging at Nora's reins as she did. "I may not have known everything about the situation or the enemy but sometimes, fighting blind is better than not fighting at all." She stroked her hand down Nora's neck, her hand with the flames in it twitching at the heat. It seemed she wasn't as used to the fire as she was the electricity she used. With gritted teeth, however, she would just endure the heat until it became too much.
