Maiyah was asleep, curled up next to Lenne on the bed, nonchalantly sharing it with her. Her wounds were patching up under the bandages, but were still sore the following morning. She rolled over onto her other side, eyes cracking open soon enough to see Wantz staring at them through the crack of their door. Lifting her head up sharply, the door shut quickly, and Maiyah sighed deeply, laying herself back down and closing her eyes temporarily. She sat up, in her one-piece undergarment. Looking down at her thighs, she ran her fingers gently over the bloodied bandages.

She stood and went about quietly putting on her armor, not really knowing if Lenne was still asleep or not. They had to get out of there... quickly.

The walk was difficult but Lenne made sure to do it as painlessly as possible. Which meant walking fast. Without any words to Maiyah, Lenne walked swiftly, physically shoving away any fiends that even dared to get in her way. Though, not many did. They seemed to realise she was a true native, just as the monkeys had, which made them quite wary of attacking her.

Making her way awkwardly towards the dome, Lenne grasped hold of things to steady herself, pausing every few moments to keep from falling and to catch her breath. It was obvious she was a native, by the way she looked against the walls of the necropolis. Even now, after one thousand years, she looked right at home in the city.

Lenne walked quickly, straight to that dome, her eyes widening slightly at the noise and activity inside. "Maiyah? Is there something here still?"

Shuyin had power, real power, that had developed in the thousand years since his death. His anger, his hatred and anguish, every negative emotion had manifested in a way that allowed him to control reality in his immediate vicinity, to a limited degree. To that end, he was forming rubble into Bevelle soldiers, and obliterating them with a variety of brutal attacks, cursing the very images of the people, not to mention the city, all it stood for, and sometimes the moral fibres of their mothers.

To put it bluntly, Shuyin was still angry, even if he wasn't paying attention to the endless carnage unfolding around him. It wasn't enough.

It was never enough.

She knew she should've listened but it almost felt like something pulling her towards the inside of the dome. Something that didn't seem all that threatening, or at least to her it didn't. Lenne was generally quite sharp when it came to what she could and could not trust and something felt familiar about the thickness of the air and the emotions reverberating from inside. "It's okay... I'll be fine."

With that said, Lenne rushed ahead, up the steps to the main dome, and inside. However, she was stopped in her tracks at the sight within the dome. An orb of power. Pure power. At first she was a little frightened but a Blitzball caught her eye. It had the symbol of Zanarkand on it and a soft gasp escaped her.

"Shuyin...?" Taking another step closer, Lenne held her arms out to the sides, knowning she left herself entirely open for any stray attack. "You must stop!!" Her words were loud and carried over the noise of his attacks, though she could hardly see him through the orb of strength.

If Shuyin heard her, he didn't reply. The odd thing was that the world stopped exploding into carnage around Lenne, as if something didn't wish to hurt her. It gave her a wide berth, so that someone could likely travel closer with her. Scenes of despair and carnage continued to replay before the visitor's eyes, though, Pyreflies being forced to become the scenes they'd once forced him to relive.

It finally settled on one, of a young couple, one blonde man with a defiant glare and a brunette woman in blue with a beautiful smile. They held one another, in front of a massive machine, before Shuyin's assembled Bevelle soldiers gunned them down.

Over and over. Forever. This was his hell.

"It's... Shuyin." Her eyes were wide and filled with tears at the sight of hers and Shuyin's final moments together. Pyreflies swarmed around her and Maiyah again, but she couldn't manage to get closer to Shuyin with her guardian's blade keeping her protected. Grasping hold of Maiyah's arm, she pulled the other woman forward with her, knowing now that they wouldn't be hurt in the orb. Well, Lenne wouldn't, and Maiyah would be safe as long as she stuck close.

"Shuyin, please..." Her voice shook as she drew nearer, keeping hold of Maiyah and forcing the other woman along with her. There wasn't anything she could think of that could stop Shuyin's rampage and even though she wasn't scared he'd hurt her, she knew he could destroy what remained of Zanarkand and that was just something she couldn't watch.

He had been building towards that end, actually. Scouring the remains of his beloved city from the map, to stop it from being pillaged by Bevelle's researchers, who would only bastardize it's glorious history. Suddenly the rest of the carnage stopped, and the only noise was gunfire. The image of Lenne mouthed something unheard, then bullets pierced flesh and broke bone, and the two hit the floor. Then silence for a moment before it broke out into undiscernable violence again.

Shuyin wasn't thinking, he was just lashing out.

"He's... my..." She wasn't sure what label she should exactly put on it. Shuyin was her everything. Her love, her best friend, her first guardian, her protector, her... world. Swallowing thickly, Lenne grasped Maiyah's arms loosely. "Keep me from falling, Maiyah." She wasn't sure what could happen if she did what she was preparing to do but she knew that she'd have no strength if she was on her knees. Maiyah could support her. Be her strength whilst she had none. Lenne took a deep breath, slow and steady, before she began singing for the second time that fateful day.

"I know that you're hiding things,
Using gentle words to shelter me,
Your words were like a dream,
But dreams could never fool me,
Not that easily."

Lenne trembled as she grasped hold of Maiyah, her body tingling where the pyreflies clung to her flesh. It felt painful and amazing all at once. She continued singing, her song that was just for Shuyin. The song she'd leant to Yuna to get the whole of Spira to remember just what had really happened. By the time she reached the chorus, Lenne's tears were streaked down her tanned flesh, drying in place on her skin.

"Though a thousand words have never been spoken,
They'll fly to you,
Crossing over the time and distance holding you,
Suspended on silver wings,

And a thousand words, one thousand confessions,
Will cradle you,
Making all of the pain you feel seem far away,
They'll hold you forever,"

Stepping closer to Shyin, Lenne continued to sing. She wasn't sure if it was possible but she could hear the music of her song playing loud and clear and it just seemed so clear that she swore it had to be real. Sounds created by the pyreflies or something along those lines. It was too clear not to be real. Her skin tingled all over and the scene of their death replayed repeatedly, in several places in the room.

"Oh, a thousand words have never been spoken,
They'll fly to you,
They'll carry you home and back into my arms,
Suspended on silver wings, on silver wings,

And a thousand words, oh, call out through the ages,
They'll cradle you,
Turning all of the lonely years to only days, only days,
They'll hold you forever...
Ohh... a thousand words."
