The door was sealed shut. There was no way anything was getting in or out of Kingdom Hearts for some time. Riku was sad. Sad that Mickey had been lost to the darkness. But he had bigger problems to deal with right now, namely an unconscious teenager in his arms. He had fled Kingdom Hearts through a portal, carrying Sora protectively, instantly making his way back to Balamb Garden, to the Infirmary. Sora had played his role, Gaia could finish the job itself now.

His breathing was shallow and his skin was drained of most colour. He was pale and hot and the boy was mostly unmoving. He had managed to close Kingdom Hearts, with Riku and King Mickey, but there had been that blinding light and he wasn't sure why but he'd passed out. What was the cause? As he was carried to the Infirmary, Sora curled up a little, his face contorted into almost a pained expression.

"I need some help in here!!" Riku shouted out, carrying Sora to the closest bed, laying him down on it. He ran his hands through those droopey spiked locks, fighting back the urge to cry. "Sora... Don't you dare leave me behind..." He whispered, slipping one hand into Sora's, giving a light squeeze.

The Doctor hurried to the screaming teen, frowning. She was run off her feet with casualties but most of them were stable now. Or at least, there was nothing that could be done. "Riku?! Oh!" She moved swiftly to Sora's side, beginning to check him over, receiving minimal responses from the smaller teen.

"What's wrong with him, Doc? One minute he was fine, then there was this light, and he collapsed." The older teen explained, stumbling over his words slightly as he tried to get them all out.

"It seems like exhaustion. He has been training practically all night, when classes finish." She replied. Though, it was supposed to be a secret. Sora often came to her with injuries. Moving to get a chair, she nudged it against the back of Riku's knees, urging him to sit down. "Now, let me check you over."

Riku flailed a little as the chair hit the back of his knees, and he soon sat down in it. "He's been what?! He's supposed to've been resting! Jeeze... No wonder he's all collpased!" He huffed a little. "I'm fine. I barely did anything. Sora did all the hard work. Sora and Leon."

She continued examining Riku, finding nothing particularly wrong with him. "Well, he had a war to fight. He said 'I can't win the war if I'm asleep'." She smiled and moved to get a few things, soon hooking Sora up to machines and a drip.

"He can't win a war if he's exhausted, either. He could've been Heartless lunch!" The teen frowned, smushing his face into Sora's bed.

"Well, perhaps he worked better under the pressure." She patted Riku's head before wandering off to deal with other patients. Leaving Riku alone with a barely breathing Sora and the constant beeping of the monitors.

Riku sighed and once more reached for Sora's hand, lacing their fingers together. He pressed a soft kiss to the back of Sora's hand. "You gotta get better, Sora."

It was quite a while before Sora stirred, but when he did, he woke with a start, gasping harshly and sitting up halfway before flopping back to the bed, panting. His eyes held the expression of terror and his skin broke out in a cold sweat but he said absolutely nothing.

Riku had been almost asleep when Sora jerked awake. He instantly rested a hand on Sora's shoulder, the other on his stomach, coaxing him to relax. "Shh. Shhh Sora, it's okay, just relax." He whispered.

He blinked a few times before letting his gaze settle on Riku. "R...Riku...? When... when did you... You're not in the darkness...? You look older..." he mumbled, his eyes welling with tears. "Where am I?"

Riku blinked right back in return, looking more than a little confused. "Of course I'm not in the darkness, you wouldn't let me go through the door, silly."

"But... you went..." He shifted to sit up, rubbing his head. "I have a headache..." He mumbled, settling his hands on his lap. "Am I in the hospital?"

Riku frowned a little. "You're in the Infirmary at Balamb Garden. I carried you here." He stood up. "I'm gonna tell the Doc you're awake, wait right here."

"Infirmary? Balamb Garden...? What's Balamb... wait, Riku, where are Donald and Goofy? We were supposed to go defeat Organization XIII." He looked confused, his mouth slightly agape.

Riku stopped in his tracks, blinking at Sora for a moment. "Sora... come on, don't play games. We already did that." He replied, moving to find the Doc.

"We...? Wait... huh?" He blinked at Riku, frowning in confusion. What was going on? Why did Riku look so much older? At least two years...

The Doctor smiled at Riku as he came near, and she finished changing the bandages of another patient. She removed her rubber gloves and washed her hands, slipping on fresh gloves.

Riku frowned a little at the Doctor. "Hey Doc... Sora's awake, but he's kinda acting a little funny, like his memory is on the blink. I dunno if he's faking or being serious..."

She smiled, walking over to him. "I'm sure he's probably just disoriented." She patted Riku on the shoulder before making her way to Sora, beginning to check him over.

Sora jerked away, his eyes wide. "What are you doing?? Riku, please, tell me what's going on! Where are we??!" He scooted away from the doctor, looking distressed.

"Sora! Calm down, it's just the Doc." Riku frowned, moving over to rest a hand on Sora's shoulder. "Relax and let her look you over, okay? She needs to make sure you weren't badly injured in the battle against Mickey."

"Against Mickey?! The King?! Why would I fight against him?!?!" He tugged the wires and needles from his skin with a few winces, scrambling off the bed.

The Doctor blinked a little. "Riku, restrain him!" She wasn't young or quick enough to grab hold of him as he headed for the door.

Riku grabbed hold of Sora, pulling the younger boy tight against his chest, curling both arms around his waist. "Sora! Please, just calm down. Just breath and relax."

Sora panted a little, swooning slightly, but soon grasping Riku's shirt, steadying himself. "Riku, I'm confused... where's Kairi? And Donald and Goofy?" He blinked up at the older boy. "I have to defeat Organization XIII and... you were in the darkness... I'm confused..."

The Doctor frowned before moving slowly closer. "Sora? My name is Doctor Kadowaki. You're in a place called Balamb Garden. I... I think you're suffering some sort of amnesia..."

"Amnesia? He's lost two years of memories... Will he get them back?" Riku asked, looking rather concerned. He guided Sora back to the bed, trying to get him to lay back down.

"Amnesia... but... huh?" He sat on the bed but didn't let Riku make him lie back. He rubbed at his eye, frowning. "My head feels kinda fuzzy..."

"Well... I... I cannot say. It is up to Sora's mind if he can unlock all those memories. Perhaps you should help? Tell him about good things?" She frowned slightly.

"Good things?" Riku scrunched up his nose a little, shifting to sit back in his seat. "There aren't too many of those to tell..." He gave a sigh, toying with Sora's fingers. "Well um... We defeated Organization XIII... Kinda."

Sora frowned, pulling his hand away. "What're you doing, Riku?" He laughed softly and pressed the bottoms of his feet together, resting his hands on his ankles. "We defeated them? So... you got out of the darkness? I... I found you?" His eyes welled up and he frowned. "I looked everywhere for you..."

"I know. You told me. I didn't want to be found. But it was all okay in the end. We found our way home, together. You and me."

"What about Kairi? Is she okay? Where is she?" He looked around, pouting slightly. "She's okay right?" His blue eyes finally settled on Riku.

Riku nodded. "Yeah... She's fine. She's here in Garden... somewhere. We'll go find her once you've recovered."

"What... what's this thing about the King? Why... was I...?" He fell silent, frowning as his eyes found his hands on his ankles.

Riku swallowed, turning his face away from Sora. "He... He fell to darkness. You and Leon had to defeat him... To save Gaia..."

Sora gasped, covering his mouth with his hand. "So... he's... dead?" He whispered, blinking at Riku with tears on his face.

Riku wiped away those tears with his thumbs. "I don't know. He's behind the door... Whether he's dead or alive, I don't know."

Sora pulled away from Riku's hands, looking a little confused by the touching. It wasn't excessive, but it was more than he remembered. "Geez... nh... tell me something good. I can't remember anything nice..."

"Um well..." The older teen frowned at the fact Sora was pulling away from him. "Roxas is here, and you have a kitten..."

"Roxas...? My Nobody?" He rubbed at his eyes, soon smiling slightly. "A kitten? Is it nice? I wanna see it."

Riku nodded. "Yeah, Roxas and Axel are both living here. Roxas shares your room." He scrunched up his nose a little. "The kitten is cute... You'll see it when you're rested up."

"Axel...? He's..." Sora sighed, shaking his head. "So, why don't I share a room with you? We're best friends!" He replied, bouncing slightly.

The older teen stared down at his lap, frowning a little at Sora's words. So, he'd really forgotten everything... "Well, because you and Roxas are like twins, it's only right you should room together."

"But you're my best friend... right? Did... did I do something wrong? Are we not best friends anymore?" His eyes widened and he looked at Riku with panic in those blue orbs.

Riku felt tears welling up n his eyes, he squeezed them shut, shaking his head. "N-no... you didn't do anything wrong." He mumbled, his voice shaky.

Sora could hear how Riku's voice changed and shifted off the bed, standing in front of him, leaning down to look at his face. "Riku...? What's happened?" He frowned slightly.

Riku shook his head again, reaching out a hand to ruffle Sora's hair. "Nothing... Get some rest, okay?"

Sora caught hold of that hand, tugging at it a little. "Riku, tell me! You... look like you're gonna... cry..." he said, whispering towards the end.

Riku wiped at his eyes with his free hand, rubbing those tears away as best he could, letting out a sad squeak. "I'm not gonna cry, I'm not a total sap like you."

Sora huffed a little but managed to settle himself before he got mad. "Sorry... I just... thought you told me everything. We are best friends after all..."

"Yeah... Best friends..." Riku murmured, staring at the floor.

Sora blinked a little, noticing the way Riku said that. "...Riku. Tell me what's going on." He demanded, his voice soft but stern.

Riku sighed, keeping his eyes fixed on the floor. "Sora... For the past few months, we um... We've been more than friends..."

Sora snorted before giggling, shifting to sit back on the bed, flopping back as he laughed. "Hahaha~! That's a good one, Riku!" He blinked a little, noticing the older teen wasn't laughing. "Wait... seriously?"

Riku sighed, reaching back to tie his hair up in a ponytail with the hairband around his wrist. "Just forget I said anything, okay..."

Sora blinked a few more times before a bright blush rose on his face. "Wow... really?" He shifted to sit up, leaning towards Riku, noticing only now just how pretty Riku was.

"Yeah, really... Just... just forget I said it, okay? I mean... being friends is good too..."

"No... I mean... I just..." He sighed, hugging his knees to his chest. "Sorry I can't remember. I wish I could... I think anyone would be... lucky to be with... you..." he mumbled quietly.

Riku sighed and ruffled Sora's hair lightly. "DOn't worry about it, okay? Maybe it'll come back to you soon..."

"M... m-maybe if you... um... maybe if we hugged or something?" He shrugged slightly, shifting his feet to the floor.

Riku dragged the chair closer to the bed, wrapping his arms around Sora's waist, resting his head against the boy's hip.

Sora blushed brightly, petting his fingers through Riku's ponytail before leaning down a little, wrapping his arms around Riku.

Riku closed his eyes, holding onto Sora that little bit tighter. "Don't scare me like that again. You collapsed and I..."

"I... I'm sorry..." He lifted Riku's chin, looking into those green eyes with his own wide blue eyes. "Hey... we're more than friends...?"

Riku blinked up at Sora, a slight pout on his lips. "I... if you still want to be..."

Sora blushed brightly, nodding slightly. "Um... we...what did we... uhh..." He felt so awkward, not knowing what they were like together.

The older teen cupped Sora's cheeks, stroking them with his thumbs. "Don't feel so awkward. It's just me. We just... did what came naturally to us... Liek always."

Sora laughed lightly, resting his hands on Riku's wrists. "Natural... huh? I guess it always was pretty natural between us." He smiled softly.

Riku leaned up, pressing a soft, chaste kiss to Sora's lips. "Always."

Sora squeaked as he was kissed, flinching back. "Woah..." he exhaled, blushing painfully bright.

Riku frowned, pulling away slightly. "I um... I'm sorry..." He murmured, pushing the chair back a little way.

"No, no, I... I just didn't expect..." He took a slow, deep breath, calming himself down. "Lemme try again!" He beamed at Riku, opening his arms.

Riku wriggled forward slightly, resting his hands on the bed either side of Sora as he leaned up to kiss him again.

Sora gently rested his hands on Riku's cheeks, kissing back slowly, almost cautiously, and very clumsily.

Riku smiled against Sora's lips, kissing him softly and gently for a moment longer, before breaking it.

Sora looked at him with a lazy grin. "Wow... you kiss really good..." he mumbled, laughing softly.

Riku laughed softly. "Well, that's because I've had a good partner to practise on."

"How... how far have we..." He shook his head, blushing even brighter. "Forget it. I wanna see where we are."

"You should rest. It's still a warzone out there." Riku murmured, trying to get Sora to lay back down. "And um... all the way..." He murmured, in reply to the first question. "More than once."

Sora squirmed a little before just settling to lay back. "All... the..." He gasped softly covering his face with the pillow for a moment before looking at Riku. "Will you lay with me, like when we were kids?"

Riku slipped his shoes off, before climbing up onto the bed wit Sora, wriggling to lay down beside him.

Sora reached out, brushing his hand over Riku's pale cheek. "Riku... do... do you love me?" He asked quietly.

Riku huffed, blowing a raspberry on Sora's cheek. "Idiot. What kind of question is that? Of course I do. You're my Sora."

"I just... needed to know." He shifted to lean close to Riku, touching the bigger teen's lips. "Can I have a... kiss...?"

Riku gave a soft laugh, once more pressing a chaste kiss to Sora's lips. "You can have as many kisses as you like."

"Mn, no, I mean... I want to know what a... real kiss feels like..." He mumbled awkwardly, stumbling over his words.

Riku laughed again, threading his fingers through Sora's hair as he kissed the boy firmer.

Sora squeaked a little, pressing his hands to Riku's chest, half wanting to push him away, through sheer nervousness. "Nhh..."

The older tenn hand his hand down Sora's spine, rubbin gently as he kissed Sora more.

Sora's hands soon slid to Riku's shoulders and he shyly poked his tongue at Riku's lips.

Riku parted his lips, his own tongue instantly snaking out to duel with Sora's, claiming the boy's mouth as he did.

Sora gasped, his mouth opening more as he ran his tongue slowly over Riku's, suckling a little at that muscle.

Riku purred into the kiss. His hand stroking Sora's back as he deepened the kiss. "Mm." He murmured, break the kiss into smaller, softer kisses.

Sora laughed against Riku's lips, nibbling the older teen's lower lip. "Mnn... so good..." he mumbled, his cheeks burning from the blush.

"Mm. But now you should rest. It's been a tough time." Riku murmured, pulling Sora tighter against him.

Sora nodded slightly. "You'll stay with me, right? Even if I can't remember everything? You'll... help me remember?"

Riku nodded in reply. "Of course, Sora. Me and you. Together, forever. I'll never abandon you."

The boy laughed lightly, burying his face against Riku's neck, kissing softly. "I... I'm glad you're here." He whispered, closing his eyes.

Riku petted Sora's hair, playing with the locks gently, smiling a little himself. "Me too, Sora. Me too." He whispered.
