Who: Roxas, Rikku, Open
What: Odd jobs and who knows what else
When: Afternoon
Where: Balamb
Rating: PG
Roxas spread his hands about the paper he put onto the stone wall making sure the paper stuck from corner to corner. Down the winding sidewalk behind him was a speckled trail of the same posters on light posts, walls, and pretty much anything else that had a surface.
The morning had long past worn on into mid afternoon, he had after all been doing this a little after the sun had risen. Wiping the sweat from his face onto the collar of the white shirt he wore, Roxas looked behind him remember how he had thought he would never be able to put over one hundred over the town of Balamb without having one being too close to the other. Now everyone who wasn't already awake would find the flyers giving the date and location of the airship auction coming up in the coming weeks.
Feeling thankful he decided not to wear his jacket, Roxas hopped down from the ledge next to the wall landing on the sidewalk below. He put his foot on the skateboard he had acquired the previous day for helping a nice lady with some outdoor chores. In lieu of getting paid in cash, she had offered him an old skateboard stashed in her attic. Apparently her son had something much better called a hover board and never even thought of the old skateboard, which was now just taking up space and collecting dust. Giving the skateboard an appraising look, Roxas hopped onto it and began making his way back to the man who gave him the flyer job. He stopped just outside a small community building that had a quaint teller window at the entrance.
"Hey, I was here earlier-"
The guy inside had on glasses and long shaggy hair. "Oh yeah, poster boy." he said, a breathy laugh accompanied the last words. "Yeah, thanks man, that was really cool of you." and then after a few moments. "Oh right" Haha. Cash, right?" he asked rhetorically. He put a clip holding some money. "Here you go, knock yourself out, buy your girlfriend something nice, all right. Catch you later." he said returning back to his work.
"Thanks." Roxas said as he thumbed through the money as he began skating, not watching where he was going. These jobs where how he made whatever money he could get his hands on. It really helped on his blind Valentine's date, the roses he had purchased came to the total of three jobs he had to do, all in one day.

Date: 2010-02-24 01:42 am (UTC)He turned the corner, moving away from the shadows of the building into the blinding sun, shifting his bandanna so it shaded his eyes, he kept walking, thinking about the recent days. The fall of Fynn, the meeting of the girl who resembled Rachel so much, and then his subsequent meeting with Rikku and Krile. They seemed nice enough. He hoped Krile got to Eshtar.
However, being lost in one's thougths is a good way to get hit by something, and that is what happened to Locke. However the something wasn't anything dangeours, just a blonde boy on a skateboard. Locke fell to the ground as he gasped

"Hey! You look really hot!" She said cheerfully. "You should come down to the pier with us. We're going swimming! No better way to beat the heat, so come on lets go!" And with that, she grabbed hold of his arm and started dragging him off down the street with the assistance of her personal mob.

Date: 2010-02-24 02:38 am (UTC)"Whooaaaaauuuaahhh!" Roxas yelped as he tried to maintain balance on his skateboard. By managing to flail his arms and hands, he stayed vertical. As the words of apology and guilt formed on his lips, he was instantly confronted by a braided blond hair girl who had an small platoon of kids around her.
"Hot?" he asked confusedly as he began to be dragged by his arm and pushed from behind by enthusiastic children. Him being on a skateboard didn't allow him much resistance.
"Hey, but-" he said trying to turn around without accidentally harming the kids about him. "Sorry!" he called to the man he had bumped into. Roxas tried to put the bandanna and jacket into his memory so he could apologize more formally over his blunder. "I wasn't wasn't watchi- Ow!" Did he just get pinched? "Wait, pier??" he asked quickly now registering exactly what the girl had said.

Date: 2010-02-24 07:23 pm (UTC)"Oh hi Locke!" She called, raising one arm out of the water to wave cheerfully. "Come on in, the waters great!" She and the kids she'd brought with her were really having some fun it seemed.

Date: 2010-02-25 01:39 am (UTC)*SPLASH*
Cold water soaked his jeans, shirt, and face. His hair moving with the waves he had created, Roxas saw the skateboard sinking into the depths. Using the momentum of his plunge, he swam down after it.
Then it was deja vu in which he touched the bottom of the ocean, landing on his feet, and then the sand burst into doves that revealed a-
His hand wrapped around the board, his deja vu fading when his lungs began to demand air. Kicking his legs and using his free arm, he swam up and broke the surface gasping and coughing. His hair now wet and plastered to his head. He sputtered as he waded as best he could with one arm holding the skateboard. Water just seemed to make it heavier, he was just now getting a good look at the girl and kids that sent him over the pier as well as the guy he had bowled over.

Date: 2010-02-26 06:51 pm (UTC)"Ohh you know, needed some gil, so I took a baby sitting job or two...or five..." She said and laughed, still looking back and checking everyone out from time to time.
Rikku blinked as the boy exited the water with his skateboard. "Hey yeah, what is your name?"

Date: 2010-02-26 07:01 pm (UTC)"Thanks." he said breathlessly as he got reaccustomed to breathing air. "Sorry" he breathed "about" he gasped "earlier." He set his skateboard upside down on the pier so it wouldn't roll away and took off his shoes. "My name's Roxas." he said, extending his hand to Locke as he peeled off his socks. He was wet now, no point in not swimming. He glanced at Rikku, he would make introductions to her after getting over his guilt of knocking the poor guy over.

Date: 2010-02-28 04:00 pm (UTC)When he heard Locke address the girl as Rikku, Roxas looked to her. He felt moronic for instantly thinking she was his- No, Sora's friend.
Then Roxas remembered how exactly he got here in the first place. "Hey, what was that all about?" he asked of the girl. He didn't want to sound mean, but to put another way, he had just gotten hijacked. Then his eyes widened as he quickly swam to the pier, taking a small wad of money out of his pocket. It was soaked, heavy with water. His mouth lined into his cheek a little, and he set it next to his shoes before he swam back.

"If you just leave it out, someone might walk up onto the dock and take it while you're out here swimming with us." She backstroked over to the splashing war again and joined in for a bit, then turned suddenly, directing a huge splash over at Roxas "Sneak Attack!" She called as she laughed and splashed more.

Date: 2010-03-01 09:33 pm (UTC)Silly Jett, Roxas doesn't have his jacket :p
Date: 2010-03-02 01:08 pm (UTC)But before he could say anything though, Rikku had suddenly splashed him and he sputtered and coughed at the seawater that got into his mouth. It had the most disgusting taste! Not willing to lie down anymore from this watery assault, Roxas began to splash back with both hands.
But then, the kids that were with Rikku were drenching them all. Laughing now because it was impossible not to, Roxas began splashing indiscriminately. One of the kids, Locke, or Rikku. It didn't matter that his jeans were going to be dripping wet in a while, this was too much fun. Locke wasn't the grudge holding type for the accident Roxas caused, and Rikku wasn't entirely the crazy girl he had expected her to be.
