Who: The King of Heartless; Mickey Mouse, and Sora.
What: A chance encounter in the Hall of Passage.
When: Dunno? Nowish?
Where: The Hall of Passage! :O
Warnings: Emotions!
Mickey hissed under his breath as he stepped between worlds, stalking the infinite shadows that occupied the spaces between the thoughts of every living thing in the universe, and comprised the walkways between realities. He could access it with the Keyblade, both the rusted Kingdom Key, and his Nobody Keyblade. He was constantly followed by the hungry shadows that were the Heartless. They gravitated toward him, their natural leader, the one most capable of swallowing entire worlds in darkness to fuel their hunger. He was working on just such a world now; the one he'd originated from, but first, he had to find a likely conduit for his Heartless minions. There were other Keyblade bearers in the worlds, but he wasn't likely to run into one now.
The teen had been resting in Garden, his eyes almost drifting shut. What was the point in being here if he couldn't just go out and kill the Heartless. Biting his lower lip, Sora stood, gripping his Keyblade and holding it up. A light beam would appear from it and at that, a small passage would form. He had no intentions of escaping from Garden and leaving Leon to fight alone but, sometimes, just hanging around in a corridor of passage would keep him from going a bit reckless. However, his heart stopped at the sight. "...K-King Mickey?"
Mickey grunted, his flesh a sickly blue-grey, eyes the bright yellow of any Heartless, and the gaping wound that had taken his Heart was covered in the stylized black and red emblem that was common to his kind. The rest of his outfit was nondescrept; black robes and simple grey slacks, darker grey shoes. The air shimmered around him, and his Kingdom Key appeared, rusted and pitted, in his right hand. In the left, his Nobody Keyblade appeared, twisted and malformed, and -screaming-. King Mickey let it continue for a moment longer, before clenching his hand on it, and choking off the screams, "Sora.." he chuckled darkly, "I wasn't expecting to see you here.. oh no no.." even his voice was harsh, wriggling it's way into the mind like a parasite.
That voice... the Keyblade master gritted his teeth, eyes full of sadness and determination. "You're not King Mickey... you're just a stupid Heartless!!" At that, the teen took a swing for the small creature, his knuckles white as he gripped his weapon. That second Keyblade... it'd screamed... what was it?! The boy shook the thought away as he moved towards the mouse.
Mickey cackled harshly as he blocked the teen's Keyblade on his white one, the weapon emitting a pained shriek, disturbingly in Mickey's voice, as sparks flew. "Ah ah ah, I'm not -a- Heartless, Sora, I'm -the- Heartless..!" he leaped backwards, gesturing powerfully with the Kingdom Key, "Kill him~!" several dozen weaker Heartless surged forth, their cold black claws reaching out for Sora's flesh.. for his Heart. Mickey chuckled as his feet touched the ground again, and waited to see if the boy would be able to handle some minions, before even fighting the King of the Heartless.
The Heartless came rushing towards him and the boy swung his Key, eyes focused and sharp as he did. Using the head of one of the creatures as leverage, the teen launched himself into a backflip. In mid-air, whilst upside down, the boy's clothing faded into a glowing white colour and a second Keyblade sparked into his hand. As soon as his feet touched down, the boy began swinging both blades in a practised ease, teeth gritted as he barely looked at anything, using his other senses to fight off the minions.
They fell one by one, and Mickey couldn't help but admire the boy's prowess, until he held one hand up, Keyblade flashing in the dim light, calling off his Heartless, "Goodness, you're quite skilled now, aren't you boy?" he chuckled under his breath, and smirked, stepping forward slowly, "Not enough to defeat me, I assure you, so why don't you turn back, and forget you were ever here." his tone was soft, but still threatening.
Sora let out a ragged breath, eyes coming to a sharp stop on the Heartless mouse. "I'll try my hardest. You're not going to get to Leon or me... or anyone anymore!! You're nothing but a Heartless, you're not the King!!!" At that Sora rushed in again, both Keys raised and ready for battle.
Mickey rushed him as well, clashing his own Keys against the boy's, his smaller size no detriment to his fighting abilities, his body unnaturally vigorous from his transformation into a Heartless. "Oh, I still know who I am, Sora. Ask Leon, he knows I know.." he smirked past the clashing blades, grunted, and heaved, trying to throw Sora backwards to put some more distance between them.
The boy wouldn't take it, he would just keep pressing forward, hoping to find a gap in Mickey's skill. A small one would do it and he'd be at an advantage. "Don't talk about Leon!! You don't have the right to even think about him!!" The boy was angry. No one dared to threaten any of his friends. Not even a so-called King.
The King laughed softly, "Already forgotten what I taught you? Don't close your eyes to the truth, Sora, open them and look around! Who else besides you, Riku, Kairi and Roxas use Keyblades? How many of us Heartless would possess them?" he switched holds, bringing his Kingdom Key around in a fluid strike after taking the weight of the pushing teen on the screaming Nobody Key.
As the Keyblade struck him, Sora was sent back, skidding across the surface beneath them. With a grunt he shifted to his feet again, eyes narrow. "Just shut up!!" He growl, shouting the words. He didn't want to hear this. Not from the person he'd trusted and followed so avidly until... until he became this black-hearted bastard.
"Oh, you don't like me anymore? I'm hurt, Sora, cut right to the quick!" he laughed again, leaping into the air and aiming a powerful double-bladed slash at Sora, going for power over skill. "You'll make an excellent Heartless, yes indeed..." he grinned wickedly.
"Not again, I won't!!" He screamed at Mickey, dodging back as best he could but still receiving a nasty cut down his chest. The teen growled at the sting but soon ran in, swinging his Keyblades around as though they were tiny sticks he was just twirling in his fingers. At that, he swung both of them, in turn, aiming to take down the little beast.
Mickey grunted when one of the Keys sank into his torso, kicking out at Sora's other arm before he got hit again. He seethed with anger, and gritted his teeth, letting loose with an unholy blast of magic, the pulse pushing with incredible force. At that, though, the white Keyblade in his off-hand shrieked as if being flensed.
His Kingdom Key shot from his hand at the kick and Sora growled under his breath, but at the magic, he turned making a run to get away from the force, focusing enough to get the Keyblade to return to his palm. As soon as he was safe from the magic, save for a nasty burn on his arm and a few cuts to his face, the teen glared at the mouse. "What's the point in all this?! The real King Mickey would never do this!!"
"King Mickey died in the basement of Balamb Garden, when his so-called friend allowed the Heartless to take his Heart!!" he shouted the words at Sora, accusational towards the entire world, as being a Heartless allowed negative thoughts and emotions to fester and grow, regardless of logic or not. "Go back to your Garden and think happy thoughts, boy, the Heartless will be coming soon, to destroy your pathetic world!"
"Not if I have anything to do with it!!" At that, the teen ran in again, despite the physical and obvious emotional pain he was suffering. Nothing was going to make him let this Heartless take over. His eyes narrowed, flicking slightly yellow. A bad sign. Mickey's darkness... the Heartless, the corridor of darkness... they were beginning to affect him.
Mickey growled under his breath, spinning around and slamming his Keys down into the ground, leaping forward and weaving a web of sharp edges by swinging his weapons back and forth, breaking his rhythm to thrust a point at Sora, rather hoping the boy would rush headlong into it and impale himself. The wound he'd sustained seemed to barely slow him, however.
Just managing to skid to stop himself, he was nicked by the blade. "Aghh!!" The boy jerked himself away, staggering back. His eyes turned golden for a full moment of pure anger and sadness... and possible hatred. As soon as the blue returned, however, he cast a small Cure on himself, panting. If he wasn't careful, he was about to leave Gaia without a master of the Keyblade. Fleeing was becoming an alluring option, gradually. Until he could fight with more power.
The King laughed and launched a few more orbs of energy at Sora, the antithesis of his Pearl spell, the same unholy energy he'd thrown Sora away with. "That's it, boy! You can't win! Run away and tell your friends you were no match! No match for the King of Heartless! Hah hah..! Pathetic!" he hurled his insults like weapons, trying to whittle Sora's will away and make him into what he so despised.
"Shut up!!" His anger was obvious and perhaps his hate, too. The teen ran towards the mouse, dodging as many shots as he could, trying not to react to the ones that hit. At this he gave an angered yell, his Keyblades slashing at the King once again. The insults were working. He wasn't as trained as he used to be... his will was weak.
"Oh boo hoo, the big bad mouse used to be what I wanted to be, but now he's making me feel bad." his voice was pitched like Sora's, and mocking, as he continually blasted magic at the foolishly angered teen, following the last spell up with his blade, hidden in the glare of the magic. "You're getting sloppy, 'Keyblade Master'!"
The spells burned and as he was caught by that blade and those razor sharp words, his whole self began to flicker black, his eyes sparking yellow in hatred. Sora growled, trying to fight back his Heartless... it wasn't as strong as his heart!! "You won't win, Heartless! I may be just one kid but there are other people... we're going to stop you!!" He panted as he fought off the darkness. "C'mon!! What about Donald and Goofy? A-and Queen Minnie?!"
"All fodder for my ire! Donald and Goofy, if they were really my men, would they have been sipping drinks while I died in a hole? Does Queen Minnie even know what has become of her King, Sora? What about you? Did any of my so-called 'friends' find out what I had become?" he growled and stood his ground, condemning entire worlds with his words, as if he didn't care for anything more than what his mission had been, and why he failed.
The boy panted and growled, eyes completely golden but fighting off the smoke-like blackness that ebbed at him. "You... you're wrong! Leon was protecting us all! He was trying to find a way to save you!!!" The boy's blades fell from his hands as he dropped to his knees, panting, feeling choked in the blackness. "You're the King of Disney Castle! Not the Heartless!!" His eyes began shimmering blue again.
"Was protecting you! WAS finding a way to save me! I came to Leon, oh yes, I came to him in my blackest hour, and asked him time and again to come to me, to save me! All I needed was for one friend.. ONE SINGLE FRIEND!!" he yelled the last words, hatred and grief colouring them as much as anything else, "Just one of you pathetic ingrates to come to me in the darkness, and be my light, so I could find my way. Instead, I got a cowardly, snivelling response, about how he was afraid.. Afraid of what? Afraid of me?!" he didn't lunge at Sora, like he'd intended, though he certainly tried. Unfortunately, the Nobody Key glanced away from the young man, and a force blew Mickey back, skidding to a halt in the shadowy, and suddenly silent hallway.
His eyes were wet and he shouted in fear of the force. Yet, he took this chance and snatched up his Kingdom Key, slipping back to his normal form and holding the Keyblade up, creating an exit for himself. The darkness seemed to pull at him as he crawled out, turning to use the last of his energy to seal the hole. His hand dropped the Key and Sora fell to his knees on the ground. There was a vicious burning where his heart was and he lifted his tattered shirt to see the burned in beginnings of a Heartless emblem that hadn't finished forming. And at that, Sora fell forward, unconscious with tears on his young face.
Mickey panted as Sora slipped out, and staggered to his feet, shouting in defiance as the portal closed and he was unable to follow the boy. No matter, he soon thought, Disney Castle would soon be his again, and then the rest of the worlds would follow..
