Who: Vaan and Penelo
What: Airship fun!
Where: Rabanastre
When: Daytime
Rating: PG
Penelo was feeling down. Vaan had stood her up for their date, without a single word of apology. She scrubbed at the tables of the Sandsea so hard she was almost removing the varnish. The airship she had bought for Vaan was docked at the Aerodrome. She had planned to give it to him after their date.
Vaan walked into the Sandsea, rubbing an eye and yawning a little. Spotting Penelo, he walked over and pinched her waist playfully. "Hey!"
Penelo huffed and pulled away from him. "Hey yourself." She replied, moving onto the next table.
Vaan frowned a little, sweeping his hair back from his face. "...what's got you all grouchy?" He grumbled, pouting at her.
"Oh... I don't know! Maybe the fact my boyfriend stood me up!" She huffed, throwing her cleaning rag at him, turning to walk off to the back room.
Vaan grasped the cloth and set it down on a table, following her with the most puzzled of expressions. "Stood you up? What?"
Penelo pouted, poking at Vaan's chest with a firm finger. "We were supposed to be going on a date!!"
"We were?! I... guess... I forgot..." He pouted slightly, frowning with the most apologetic expression. "Sorry, Pen... I must've forgot..."
Penelo looked truly hurt by Vaan's words. She sighed and looked away. "Forget it... It doesn't matter now..."
"No, Penelo, I'm sorry... I should've remembered... I'm such a jerk..." He sighed, rubbing the back of his neck. "What can I do to make up for it?"
The teen girl shook her head. "Forget about it, Vaan." She pouted more. "I gotta get back to work..."
"Penelo... please, I'm sorry. I'll cancel my hunt with Kytes and then you and me can go on this date... yeah?" He pouted at her with the biggest puppy-dog eyes.
"I waited all night for you, Vaan... I got a new dress and did my hair and everything..."
"Oh Gods... Penelo, I'm so sorry..." He squirmed slightly on the spot. "You want I could take your shift here...? You can go relax then and I'll give you all your wages?"
Penelo shook her head. "No. It's fine. I only have awhile left before my shift is over anyway... I guess we could take a walk or something..."
"Sure." He offered his hand to her, using the other to rub at the back of his neck. "Anywhere in particular?"
Penelo curled her fingers around Vaan's. "I dunno... We could hang out at the Aerodrome?" She offered.
Vaan gave a nod, smiling. "Yeah, it's always fun to look at the airships. We might see the Strahl," he chuckled softly, leading her out of the Sandsea.
Penelo gave a soft smile, brushing her fingertips against his palm. "Did you really forget or... were you with another girl?"
Vaan gave a startled choke, looking at her with wide eyes. "No!! I forgot! I wasn't with any girls! I... I fell asleep..." he mumbled.
Penelo gave a nod. "Okay." She ignored the Moogling System and continued to walk, keeping hold of Vaan's hand.
Vaan walked at Penelo's side, watching all the people around the city as they walked. "Really, Pen... I'm sorry I forgot..."
"... Don't worry about it... It doesn't matter. It was a stupid idea anyway."
"Going on a date is not stupid, Pen! I wanna date you, I just forgot is all..." He frowned a little bit.
Penelo stopped walking and turned to face Vaan, pressing a soft kiss against his lips.
Vaan blushed brightly and laughed awkwardly, rubbing the back of his neck. "What was that for?"
"Isn't that what couples do?" Penelo asked, rocking on her heels.
Vaan chuckled and hooked an arm around her shoulders. "C'mon, you, let's go to the Aerodrome."
"Vaan... How would you feel if there was an airship in there that was yours? Would you feel special?"
Vaan gave a laugh. "Well, sure, but we're still saving up for one, so I can wait." He smiled at her, taking the girl up the steps to the Aerodrome.
Penelo bounced at his side. "Well... maybe you don't have to wait anymore."
Vaan paused, in the middle of the Aerodrome, looking at the girl beside him. "...what?"
"I... went and bought you an airship..." Penelo replied, wrinkling her nose." They happened to be stood next to a very old, run down airship.
Vaan's eyes widened then he caught sight of the beaten down airship. "I... uh... it's... ummm..." He scrunched his nose right up.
Penelo laughed soft and poked Vaan's astomach. "Silly! It's not this one!!"
"Oh! Thank Gods... I haven't got the effort to fix up something that... beaten down." He pouted slightly. "Where's mine, then??"
"Patience!" Penelo rocked on her heels again. "Give me a kiss and I'll show you."
Vaan smirked and curled his arms around her waist, pulling her close. Then, he pressed his lips to hers, kissing her passionately and sweetly.
Penelo returned the kiss, laughing softly against his lips. After a moment she pulled away and began to run. "It's this way!!"
Vaan laughed and ran after her, shaking his head a little. He couldn't believe she'd just gone out and bought an airship for him!
She finally stopped by a small vessel. It was just the right size for two to live on comfortably or more to travel on for a short time. it had a single bedroom, an en suite bathroom and a tiny kitchenette. She smiled softly. "Well... here she is... The Revenance." She said proudly.
Vaan's eyes sparkled as he looked at the beatiful vessel. He let out a gasp and grinned. "It's... awesome." He then jogged up to it, running his fingers over the hull.
"She's all yours Captain Vaan!" Penelo grinned, saluting him as she stood to attention.
He laughed and opened her up, walking onboard with wide eyes. As he headed straight for the cockpit, Vaan gasped. "Woah..."
Penelo followed him on board. She watched him from the doorway. "Is... is it okay?"
"It's incredible, Pen!!" He cupped her face and kissed her quick before sitting in the pilot's seat, starting her up.
Penelo laughed and bounced to the co-pilot's seat. "It was the biggest one I could afford. But it has a bedroom. It has a double bed."
"Oh?" He gave her a playful grin. "Something in mind, Penelo?" He teased, soon getting the aircraft up through the Aerodrome hatch and out into the sky.
Penelo blushed as bright as her pants. "Well... if you'd turned up last night you'd have found out." She said, a little flustered.
Vaan set the airship on a free-flying course and hit autopilot, leaning across and cupping her cheek, pressing his lips to hers.
Penelo kissed him softly, smiling into the kiss. "We're free to go wherever we want now, Vaan."
"We're gonna go everywhere, okay? Everywhere." He grinned at her before leaning for another kiss.
Penelo licked at his lips softly, nudging her nose against his. "Together, right?"
"Always." He murmured, smiling softly at her.
"So... where are we going to fly to first?" Penelo asked, rocking in her seat a little.
